in and around the bay area 35 in oakland. a few degrees cooler here. 32 in livermore. 30 or so in danville where we saw alex just a few moments ago. nevado checking in about 30, below freezing, at the airport 27 degrees reported there. so we have partly cloudy skies, very cold temperatures this morning, if you are going to get out any time soon be prepared for that winter weather and you have frost which weather as well. you may be scraping the wind shield, just had a light radar. you can see the clouds as they continue to pass through. we have the northerly flow that continues. we have been locked in the pattern for a few days and we will continue this way. here is the ridge of high pressure. you can see how the clouds just scoot right down to california, even bringing us a slight chance for rain at times, few spring manies reported in the delta. we will continue that for today but the rain will stay off the coast. we will be partly cloudy, cool, temperatures in the low 50s for the afternoon. that's a few degrees below what we normally get. we will continue with this dry pattern in the northwes

the body was pulled last night around 8:00. breaking news from oakland where crews are mopping up after a house fire. it started at 9:00 this morning. we were overhead as flames burned through the roof. thick smoke could be seen for quite a distance. it took an hour to knock the fire down. investigators are looking into a suspicious fire that destroyed an abandoned pier this morning with crews responding in crockett near jackson avenue near the c&h sugar plant at 3:45 the firefighters let the fire bun itself out. a crew fought from the water. here is the pier before it burned. it is suspicious because there is no electrical wiring on the pier. >> santa clara sheriff is investigating a fatal accident in cupertino when a woman was killed. the woman was walking and hit by a big rig after 7:00 near cupertino road. no word on the identity of the woman or if the truck driver will face charges. >> we have new details on a tanker that hit the bay bridge. the pilot made a last-minute turn before passing under the bridge. our media partner reported the pilot planned to follow the yellow line but

. ktvu tara moriarty is at the scene of police activity. it's happening in oakland. what is going on out there? >> reporter: we're not going to say exactly where we are. this operation is still under way. oakland police are doing a raid on this block you see behind me. there are emergency personnel out here. this is one of many raids going on this morning. we are told this operation one of the riskiest. these are alleged gang members and that weapons, drugs that sort of thing is being confiscated right now. the helicopter has been above us since before 5:00 this morning. that is when swat teams moved in and told the people inside of this home to get out. neighbors did report hearing a loud boom. we are not sure if that is a door being kicked in or flash grenades were being used. there is a tactical unit at the top of the street along with an ambulance. oakland police remaining tight lipped who these people are. once the raid is over and the evidence has been seized we'll be learning more about this operation. this is one of the biggest raids happening in the city of oakland. live from oa

they were chasing crashed in oakland hills. the suv crashed near the sequoia country club. the chase started about 2:00 in the morning when chp tried to pull over the stolen suv. the mercury news is reporting that suv was packed with eight people between the ages of 15 and 19 when it raced down i-80 onto 580 before it crashed into a tree in oakland hills. neighbors woke up to the sound of the crash and the sirens. >> i was just so proud of the oakland police force at that point and chp guys that were here. they really worked beautifully and they were here for at least two or three hours. and we did see a stretcher with a -- cover off there, i assumed somebody had died. >> the driver fled the scene, is still at large tonight. >>> this past tuesday marked the 40th verse of the roe versus wade decision. the annual walk for life west coast rally started at civic center and ended with a march down market street. organizers and demonstrators are encouraged by how each year the crowd is bigger than the last. >> it's very easy if you're of my persuasion to believe you are alone, or one of a tiny min

oakland college - has been deemed not competent to stand trial. this is the suspect - one goh --- in a previous court date. he was in front of a judge today for a mental competency hearing. goh is accused of going on a shooting rampage at oikos university in april of last year. his attorney says, a psychiatrist determined that goh suffers from paranoid schizophrenia. you are looking at video from the scene of the massacre. seven people were killed in that shooting. three others hurt. school administrators say, goh was upset about a tuition dispute. >> tonight, the sister of a woman who was set on fire in san francisco -- talks to kron-4. the gruesome crime happened yesterday in the city's bayview district. the suspect - dexter oliver, who you see here, remains on the loose tonight. he is now wanted for attempted murder and arson. police say, he has an unusual haircut -- with the design of a fish on one side -- and a lighting bolt on the other. kron4's maureen kelly spoke the victim's sister about the assault. >> kerstin was hanging off. -- her skin was hanging off. and her ski
